Help: They cracked my email and registered to this site

so today I found a registration account activation email on my email, but I haven't registered to this site at all.

I changed my email password and changed the password to login here, should I be worried?

I am afraid someone might have used this account to buy some illegal stuff. Is that possible?

If you mean that you received a mail of confirmation of a possible registration and that mail hasn't been opened, you have nothing to worry about.
You got that mail because someone used your mail to register on a website, this person doesn't have your information except the knowledge that this email exists.
Most of the website requires that email confirmation to prove that it's your email that you're using to register.

I "cracked" this account so maybe a little bit :P

Well this cracker used my email to register here. And yes the email was already opened, but I changed my Gmail password and immediately changed the login password to this account on this site since I was in control of my email address.

Dunno why he didn't changed my Gmail password to steal it completely, anyway I activated 2FA as suggested by another member of this site. I hope it will be enough.

Why the hell someone would crack my email to register an account here is beyond me.
