Create a personal IRA (Traditional or Roth) and invest in VTSAX mutual fund.
If you don't want to tie the money up until retirement, open up a Vanguard brokerage account instead (but still invest in VTSAX).

By the way, VTSAX does not require you to "time" or "know" the market.

Since it's a mutual fund, it generally goes up when the market is up and down when it goes down. Overall, since I originally started investing (8 years or so ago) it has been about as steady and safe as the stock market can get (while not a waste of time like bonds typically are).

You can always invest in online stocks. I mean you should have some prior knowledge, but once you reach a starting point it’s not that hard. The way I started was by having a friend who guided me throughout the beginning. I can tell you openly that this helped me a lot. Just by having a second opinion things could go so much smoother. I invest through commission free platforms, such as trading apps like Robinhood. Especially for beginners this is very helpful, and easy to use. Most of my friends also use it, and they are very satisfied. Those’s my tips, good luck!

You can buy a stake in the budding company of a young businessman like Dave Portnoy. And this is only part of the options for how you can use the excess money to increase your capital.
