MONEY = HAPPINESS + (CHEAT SHEET TO LIFE?)
I have thought a little bit about the concept, that states more money equals more happiness.
I just want to put it out there to get other points of view than my own. The little equation and
summary below is my "rule of life". Keep in mind. This is just me rambling on about what my
beliefs are. It is not based on any kind of statistics.
Money = Freedom (ability to control things in your life)
More Money = More Freedom
Freedom = Happiness
More Freedom = More Happiness
Therefore:
More Money = More Happiness aka. More Freedom
Though I think there comes an end to this. You can't get infinite amount of freedom. When
you have built a good and solid fortune, you don't need more. That may be hard to realise
though, since humans are quite literally programmed to just gather as much as they can.
I therefore think that the people who continue working after that point, eventually will drain
themselves of all happiness, despite having loads of cash. But, if you are capable of
realising when you get to that point, and avoid life style inflation, I think you can settle
down and live a happy life. And that proves that money = happiness is true.
Very few people will ever reach this point before they retire, and that is because:
1. Does not realise when the limit has been reached, and continues working until
all happiness has been drained out of him/herself.
2. Simply never reaching the limit, either because of controllable or uncontrollable
factors in life. (Example uncontrollable = health expenses that are impossible to
overcome) - (Example controllable = life style inflation)
And the good thing is that they both have the same solution (except for the
uncontrollable factors in your life). You have to calculate your necessary expenditures,
then find out the required amount to reach your limit. And then do all in your power to
reach that number as early on as possible.
What are you waiting for? Start now!
