At the moment I am still staying with Windows but in the future I will use Linux in addition to Windows via vmware as I have not used it before.
I need a knockout kick

Switch to Linux.
I switched from WIndows 10 to Zorin OS (make sure you pick the light version) and I fucking love it.
Regret it that I didnt do it sooner!

It's a great idea to branch off to doing your computing on Linux. Some more complicated work can only be done in a Linux environment, and knowing your way around a bash shell can really help your understanding of servers and expand your skillset, as well as giving you more options for privacy. Aside from the lack of games though, there are always going to be programs that will only run on Windows, and if you have anything important to do you probably won't be able to cut the cord completely.

Try dualbooting Windows and the latest Linux Mint MATE, it's a very popular Ubuntu disto that is very similar to Windows in its layout that won't force you to use the command line, and will be a good entry point to learning how Linux works. You can always try out something else later when you become a wizard and develop your own preferences.

Both have their advantages. If it's for gaming, I'd stay Windows. You can game on Linux and it's definitely getting better, but Windows is easier. If it's for coding, definitely consider Linux. You can code on Windows, but the terminal in Linux is much more powerful and gives you more knowledge of how the OS actually functions. Either dual-boot, or run a Linux VM to test it.
