I would recommend Path of Exile, its free and has lots of endgame content and the current league is pretty good for beginners as you can craft good gear pretty easily.

Seconding Final Fantasy XIV. It started off kind of boring but it really picked up towards the end of A Realm Reborn, then gets really good in Heavensward.
