A true friend will not humiliate you in front of everyone. Rather, as much as possible, it will reveal your greatness in front of everyone or how important you are to him as a friend. Doing it in front of everyone, presenting you as a laughing stock is what those who don't want your best will do. You should leave him/her.

I think I've been a bully a little, to a friend of mine, for a while. I always thought that I've been an honourable friend to all my friends. But someday I realised that I was actually being harsh on one of them, bullying him, humiliating with my jokes.
Well we never talked about it transparently. But as soon as I realised that I was an a.hole to that friend of mine, I've stopped immediately and did my best to reverse the things I've been doing. Since then I feel like a better person, and he does not feel as shy as before. His self-esteem looks much higher and better.

Don't be that guy people, seeing my friend's self-esteem deteriorating because of me is a painful thing to become aware of.
